So we've already had an introduction from [profile] gipsy_dreamer but I thought it would be nice to have a dedicated introduction post that we can refer back to (maybe I'll put the link in the user info) so we know people's backgrounds.

Maybe we should have a little questionnaire to fill in. You can fill in as much or as little as you like. Don't feel obliged to do the questionnaire or to answer every question if you're not comfortable!

A little about you:
Anything else of note:

I'll start!

Name: Anji.
Age: 24.
Location: Southsea, Hampshire, United Kingdom.
Who do you live with? My five-year-old son Orion, partner Fredrik and two lovely fancy rats.
What is/are your disabilities? ME/CFS, Bipolar II, Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (Borderline Personality Disorder to non-Brits)
A little about you: I'm a radical feminist, Pagan, teetotal, a strict vegetarian, tattooed, pierced and stretched. I like reading, tea, orchids, rats, writing lists and jogging.
Anything else of note: Orion is also disabled, he has hemiplegia due to brain damage when he was three months old.

Now it's your turn! :D

Name: Anne
Age: 43
Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States
Who do you live with? My husband, Scott, and my daughter, Cordelia
What is/are your disabilities? Generalized anxiety, agoraphobia, fibromyalgia. I also can't drive due to an unnamed/undiagnosed problem with seeing/tracking things that are moving faster than a certain speed.
A little about you: My hobbies are reading and writing. I tend to be a lurker on communities. I'm fannish in a kind of general way, interested in reading fic and meta (still as a lurker) as long as it's fun. I'm not into any particular fandoms at the moment. I'm a feminist.
Anything else of note: I worry a lot about the things my daughter is missing out on due to my disability. I also worry that she'll inherit some (or all!) of my problems.

And I'm pleased to meet you. It's good to know that I'm not the only parent with disabilities. It makes the whole process of parenting seem more possible.

Age: forties

Location: Australia

Who do you live with? My partner, my son age eight, and our dog.

What is/are your disabilities? ME/CFS, the painful kind (oh joy), moderately severe. I can't work; I don't get out much, and use a scooter when I do.

A little about you: I'm overeducated (and way underpaid!), with qualifications in physiology, medicine, linguistics, and anthropology. I like books, my garden (though I don't really do the gardening, I do enjoy the looks and produce), and when I scrape together a few spoons I like to make my own soap. I'm white, fat, atheist, and the word most friends used to describe me before I got sick was "competent". My blogging has included this dreamwidth account, my now-defunct LJ, Hoyden About Town, and Feminists With Disabilities. Some of my bloggy hobbyhorses include bad science, medical paternalism, birth choice and breastfeeding activism in a systemic feminist framework, and of course disability politics.

My kid is a high-energy kid, who is into Lego, roleplaying games, monsters and mythical beasts, Harry Potter, Diana Wynne Jones, and Percy Jackson.

Anything else of note: I'm frustrated at the way PWD are expected to be the cared-for, not the carers, and at the way mothers are treated and talked about in much of mainstream Feminism. One of my pet peeves is playgrounds I can't access with my (currently nondisabled) child, and the absence of notice paid to carers with disabilities in discussions around accessible-playground activism.

Name: Gemma
Age: 36
Location: Chelmsford, Essex, United Kingdom
Who do you live with? My partner Dom, who is also my carer
What is/are your disabilities? Chemical depression, pernicious anaemia (permanent B12 deficiency), epilepsy, tendonitis, as-yet undiagnosed gastric issues. I walk with a cane and can rarely travel alone
A little about you: My life seems to revolve around doctors, nurses, neurological appointments and collecting prescriptions. However I also find time for gardening, reading and cross-stitch. I hope to start swimming regularly soon, as that's the only time I have full use of my right leg, and I sing, play guitar and ukulele and write songs. I'm a sci-fi geek, citing Doctor Who (Classic and new), Firefly, Stargate and Star Trek as some of my main fandoms. I also have a passion for medieval history
Anything else of note: My 14-year-old son Rhys is also disabled, having severe autism and behavioural issues. He lives with carers as I'm unable to care for him myself but we see each other regularly
